I would like to welcome you all to Langley, and to the 2009 Junior Canadians.

Aug 5th 2009

Distinguished guests, volunteers, players, officials  and baseball fans

On behalf of the Langley Baseball Association, I would like to welcome you all to Langley, and to the 2009 Junior Canadians.

Opening this tournament tonight, brings closure to a long period of planning, preparation and hard work by a large group of volunteers. The seeds of this tournament were planted some 4  or 5 years ago by a past executive board in anticipation of Langley Baseball celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. 50 years of baseball in Langley! Our tournament director, Dan McLaren was a member of that board and has been a driving force since then, working to bring this tournament to Langley.

We especially acknowledge the efforts of the tournament committee. There is an immeasurable amount of effort and resources put in by this group of dedicated volunteers. Make no mistake, without them, this tournament could not take place. Thank-you, each and everyone, for giving your time and your energy to make this experience possible.

We also want to draw your attention to our sponsors and grantors. You will see their listings in the programs, their banners on the field and hear their names announced throughout the tournament. These individuals, companies, societies and local governments have all stepped up in difficult economic times and recognized the value of supporting this Canadians Tournament with cash, goods and services. To each of them we send a very special, Thank-you.

The participating teams have worked hard to get here and are to be commended for their drive and commitment to achieve this success. We all expect to see some exciting baseball in the days ahead. Our hope is that this tournament will create some life long memories and build long term friendships for the participants.

There is an amazing team of people assembled here ready to assist in making this the best ever Junior Championship.

We now invite everyone to enjoy our great community and wish you all a great experience. We know that you will enjoy the 2009 Junior Canadians. Good luck to Everyone!

To all potential volunteers

To all potential volunteers:                                                                   July 7, 2009

The Junior League Canadian Nationals are now a month away. Many of you have shown an interest in volunteering your time and energy in helping make this tournament not just a success for Langley Baseball but for all of the City of Langley and the Township of Langley. Each and every one of us has something to offer as a volunteer and your service is much appreciated. There are many tasks that you or someone you know can assist us. From August 6th to 12th we will be hosting approximately eighteen games. We need at least 20-25 people per game to fill in areas ranging from: field duty, scorekeeping, announcing and concession, 50/50 and chaperoning the player’s tent. If you have offered your time already or have thought about putting your name in our volunteer pool, now is the time we need to hear from you. I am starting to schedule people in the areas they are able to help with and want to make sure I know your availability. Please take a moment and send me an email at warnock4@shaw.ca  or if unable to access a computer, call me at 604-534-0911. Please leave your name, email or phone that I can contact you to find out what days and times your will be able to help out. This is going to be an exciting event, don’t miss out on being a part of history for Langley Baseball. Thanks to all of you for all that you do!!

Thank you,
